Scott, By only following 150 people I think you're missing some of the value proposition of Twitter. In addition to being a way to connect with people, it is also a newsfeed.
Are you using Twitter Lists? How about a 3rd party client like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck? I segregate the people I follow in categories like "Friends", "Customers", "Industry", "Sports" etc.
