SMTV: Why Northeast Oklahoma Businesses are Not Using Foursquare

This was a hard video to shoot. I was just not feeling it, and it probably shows, but it was important to create the content, discipline myself to create and push on through. It didn't help that I had popped a blood vessel in my right eye (Dr Bussey says everything is fine) and I look like some kind of pitiful vampire.
So I want to thank my 1 reader for hanging in there and being a faithful viewer. Thanks man. I appreciate you.

Why businesses are slow to adopt Foursquare in the Midwest area.
I think it's for a couple of reasons
1. they don't know it's out there
2. If they do know it's out there, their too busy to stop and take a look at what it's all about
3. if they do stop and take a look, they may not be sure out to go about putting together a small campaign to help themsleves.

And so this is why I'm creating this vlog...so small town business owners can quickly discover and learn how to use new marketing tools to make for money for their business.

Why do you think? Any thoughts as to why businesses in this area seem slow to use these new location-service tools? Am I sitting too close to the camera? To far away?

SMTV: Intro to Whrrl

With all the trouble Foursquare has been having lately with marketers trying to get in touch with the burgeoning company, it was refreshing to be able to pick up the phone and get in touch Whrrl's Community Manager, Jeanna Barrett to discuss a problem I was having. The problem was solved in a matter of minutes.

Thanks Jeanna. Sorry I got your name wrong at the first of the video.

Have you used Whrrl before? What's been your experience? Your comments and feedback are welcome in the Comments below.

Last night we were watching Fox 23 live broadcast from Bartlesville's Hot Street Party and everything was going fine until a clown showed up for an interview. It was obvious this scared Chera Kimiko, the Fox 23 Co-anchor, in a big way.

Celeste offers her thoughts on the matter.

SMTV: Review of Amber Naslund's essay in Age of Converation 3

A review of Amber Naslund's (@AmberCadabra)essay in the new book, The Age of Conversation 3. Amber points out that it's necessary to curb your enthusiasm where social media integration is concerned.

Have you seen or been a part of an impetuous approach toward implementing social media in your company or business?

Do you have anything you would like to add? What do you think of the studio? What needs to be in the background? Your thoughts, ideas and suggestions are welcome.

Dedicating this blog to AOC3

Over the next several weeks, I'll be turning over this blog to promoting the new 171-author collaboration, Age of Conversation 3: It's Time To Get Busy .

Whrrl = Tourism Foursquare = Retail

It seems to me Whrrl is more geared toward community engagement and tourism, while Foursquare is more for the retail/venue set.

What do you think?

The Marketing Minute

The Age of Conversation 3: Time To Get Busy will be out around mid-April. Many of you have already read the first and second installments in this series and you know how insightful these books are. Through crowd-sourcing, Drew McLellan and Gavin Heath have rounded up thought leaders from all around the world and compiled and edited this latest round of high-octane group think.

As soon as more details are available I will be sure and pass those along. For now, you can look over the list of contributing authors, many of whom you know, heard of, and/or read after. Make sure and add AGE OF CONVERSATION 3: TIME TO GET BUSY to your library.

Below is a collaborative map of the Historic Trail through Bartlesville, OK. The walking trail is listed, but locations and descriptions of the historic buildings have not been finished...yet. This is where you come in. Also included in the map are some of the Bison Statues located around town. Once again, not all are listed as of this posting.
Please feel free to add your own photos/videos of any of the historic buildings or Bison statues, but please keep the additions related to this subject matter.
Keep it clean and play nice. I reserve the right to edit material that steers from the objective or is offensive, abusive or distasteful IMHO.
